Cheer/Tumbling Practice

Here are a few exercises and routines to go through for practice at the
​level of tumbling or cheer you may currently be at.  

Beginner Tumbling:

Intermediate Tumbling:

  • 10 Foreword Rolls (No hands standing up)
  • 10 Back Bend Kickovers Off the Stairs
  • 10 Cartwheels 
  • 10 Round Offs
  • 30 Second Arch Up Hold
  • 3 Handstands Against the Wall (Hold a minute each)
  • 10 Handstands (No wall)
  • 20 Rebound Jumps
  • ​10 Back Walkovers 
  • 10 Front Walkovers
  • 20 Arch Up Rock Back and Forth 
  • 20 Handstand Shoulder Taps
  • 20 Handstand Blocks 
  • 10 Handstand Snap Downs
  • 15 One Handed Cartwheels 
  • Arch Up Walk Across the Floor

Advanced Tumbling:

Cheer Tryouts:

  • 20 Tuck jumps
  • 15 Handstand Snap Downs (add a handspring after)
  • 15 Handstand Blocks (add 2 shoulder taps)
  • 10 Back Handsprings (focus on blocking to a standing position)
  • 10 Round-Off Back Handsprings
  • 10 Aerial Drills (nose to knee, kick your back leg and jump)
  • 10 Aerial Chasse Aerials
  • 10 Standing Tucks
  • 10 Round-Off Tucks
  • 10 Toe Touches
  • 10 Left and Right Herkeys
  • 10 Left and Right Hurdlers 
  • 10 Pike Jumps
  • All 3 Splits for 1 minute
  • 10 Right and Left Kicks
  • 30 Seated Toe Touch Lifts
  • 15 Left and Right Seated Herkey Lifts
  • 10 Left and Right Leg Circles 
  • Hit Each Motion in a Mirror
